Pretensions and Delusions

A mirror site for my journal at http://djmahon.livejournal.com/ (Pretensions and Delusions). Because I don't waste enough of my time on the net as it is.

Oh yeah--that "Blog" thingamajig...

Well, I don't really have an excuse, save that life has been kinda busy of late. Christmas is upon us, and with it the usual madness. I've also been working on a few side-projects--one that I hope will grant me some credentials to fall back on should I find myself unemployed in the near future. Still, I should keep up my blog, if for no other reason than to provide a platform for putting my wild ideas out in the open where I can contemplate them.

On ClimateGate: The significance of the scandal isn't that the data was hidden, manipulated, and/or destroyed, but that the peer review process itself was being manipulated. What does it matter that the consensus is, when only one opinion is presented, and all other opinion has been prevented from getting equal air time? See also The Smoking Gun at Darwin Zero.

On Tiger Woods: "A man is only as faithful as his options." ~Chris Rock. While there is much truth to that, it must be noted that Tiger Woods was granted those options by the women who slept with him.

On Copenhagen: I note with considerable irritation that the conference on global warming has, between air travel and limo rentals, generated a larger carbon footprint in a day than most of the countries represented generate in a year.

On the Fort Hood Massacre: Sooner or later, we are going to have to admit what has happened.

On the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy: De mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum~ Chilon of Sparta (556 B.C.)

Until next time.
